Canoe trips

A wonderful thing to do is a canoe trip on the Tarn. The river has some nice rapids and there are few people on the water. The current makes it a relaxing trip. With a picnic you have a wonderful day on the water. You can rent canoesTrebas(also rental of stand-up paddles and electric bicycles) or inBroquies. At the latter you do a trip with an exciting canoe slide from the lock!

Villages and Castles

By car there are numerous picturesque villages to visit with early Romanesque churches, abbeys and medieval castles. Below are photos of the village of Brousse-le-Chateau, the castle of Coupiac and Montaigut. History has left its mark in many ways in this region: there are menhirs, dolmens and tombs from the Neolithic period and even fossils and footprints from the dinosaur age.

Natural areas

Driving in this area is a pleasure: there is little traffic and the landscapes change quickly. If you drive to Roquefort (famous for its sheep cheese) and Millau (known for its viaduct), you will pass through "the Rougier", a region with red soil. We live in the Vallée du Tarn, but if you drive a bit upstream, you will arrive in the Raspes du Tarn, which, with its steep rocks and special villages and towns, also exudes a very unique atmosphere. A little further away are the Gorges du Tarn, another spectacular landscape. There you will also find the fortified towns of the Knights Templar, such as Saint Eulalie, Saint Jean d'Alcas and la Couvertoirade.

Albi

The center of Albi is on the UNESCO World Heritage List: The birthplace of Toulouse Lautrec can be reached from here via a beautiful route along the Tarn. With its museum, its spectacular cathedral, its covered market and the beautifully restored city centre, it is certainly worth a day trip, also for shopping. We offer you a map with a nice route to take with you.

Museums

There are also trips for a day inside, for example the museum with works by Toulouse Lautrec in Albi , the insect museum Micropolis for young and old in Millau or the Musée Soulages in Rodez, with the most important paintings by the world-famous artist. There are also many small museums in the surrounding villages.
